Kate Fitzgerald is a metalsmith & jeweler working in Pittsburgh, PA.

Her studio practice is rooted in the search for crude potential in dusty corners. Through the collection and alteration of found materials, she pursues questions of sentiment, disposal, and value. Her work has been shown nationally, and she is a member of both the Ethical Metalsmiths and the Society of North American Goldsmiths.

Most recently, Kate’s work was selected for the SO FRESH + SO CLEAN online exhibition, which encourages ethical practices in the metalsmithing community. She served as a presenter on the Student Panel at the MACAA Conference: Studio Shift, and exhibited her project KEEPSAKE at Little Berlin in Philadelphia. She earned her BFA with a focus in Metals and Jewelry in 2016 from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania. She is the current Studio Apprentice at Contemporary Craft in Pittsburgh, PA.

Her retail jewelry is made with simplicity and daily wear in mind, designed to be gender neutral and comfortable for everyone. Easy to match and mis-match, Kate makes pieces to be both playful and understated.
